DwHas 2012 was a success!!

DwHaS  2012 was a success on a many levels.

First of all, we raised over $7,000 for The Salvation Army! They are an organization in need and one in four people in Indiana County need their help. What a great feeling that we are able help so many people through The Salvation Army.

Secondly, the show went very well! The dancers were prepared and ready to perform. The stage crew kept the show running smoothly. The audience enjoyed the performance as well as the concession treats and basket winnings!

Finally (and one of the most important points to me) is the sense of community within Indiana and teamwork within the dance studio. It was a pleasure to see so many grandparents, cousins and friends come to support the performers. There were people at the show who came just because they like to see kids in the arts.  A couple of my friends whose daughters have graduated from the studio came to see the show. I saw other dancers who came to enjoy an afternoon of dance with their moms.  Several dancers who weren’t able to take part in the show on Saturday purchased a t-shirt to show their support. Including performers from outside of the dance studio like the IHS dance team, Seeds of Faith, and singers from Jane Potter-Baumer’s studio proves that we all can reach out together to make a difference.

I am particularly proud of my dancers and the team feeling that they created by supporting each other. Some dancers had bigger parts in the show; others had only a minute on stage but being there as a team makes DwHaS a success. I even had one of my 3 yr old dancers and her mom come and pass out programs because they wanted to be a part! I heard encouraging words and compliments backstage as the dancers shared their other talents or performed their own choreography for the first time. I saw the smiles on the faces of the dancers as they came off stage and heard the applause from the audience or the realization that they did it! I appreciate my teachers and the dance moms stepping in to help.
